There is a slot cover on the underside of the unit. On some units there may be two. One for memory the other for the MINIpci slot. The slots should be designated. Upon determining which is the memory cover, remove that and just line everything up with the slot, lightly seat it, gently push down until the chip snaps in nicely. Make sure to discharge yourself before handling the memory. Static electricity can damage your memory chip. Otherwise, professional installation is advised, though not necessary. It's really a cinch. Thanks!

You can't install it wrong, it will only go in one way. It won't require much force to slide in. If you can see the notch on the module, that will line up with the groove in the slot, it's impossible to put it in wrong. Slide the module in as far as it will go, then push it down to secure (some little pins should hold it automatically). There you go. Of course, that's assuming you already have access to the memory slots. They are labeled (with an icon), it's on the bottom of your laptop but you'll have to remove some screws and pop one of the panels off to get to them. If you aren't sure refer to the manual or an online resource, there are plenty of them.

My Dell laptop has a place on the bottom. You take the screws out, take the plate off and just stick it in.

this is probably something a pro should do. you have to crack the case open and locate where the RAM is, then either replace or add your RAM accordingly. problem is getting the case open with its millions of screws.
