I have a dell xps 400 and only have 512mb memory, i am looking to upgrade to 1 maybe 2 gb and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of memory stick i should get like sddr or what??? Thanks a lot - Mitch.

I went to turn on my Mac G4 and instead of the operating system loading normally, a small flashing symbol appreared in the middle of the screen. It did nothing more...just kept flashing. The symbol was a folder icon with a question mark in the middle. It would flash to the same folder icon with a face in the middle. If an illustration helps copy & paste the link below:

Nothing I tried made any difference. What do you think this means? Is my computer dead or having serious problems? Before this problem occurred, the computer would freeze alot and I'd have to restart it to continue. But Í've never seen this before. Any help is appreciated.

I wont more memory I do not have enough but i dont know what number on th memory so i can go get one. I was told i could only go 2 more gb for my computer so i would I would like to get more

I'm not very smart when it comes to computers. I have a computer that has windows xp home edition with no Reformat disk. My computer has a system restore option on it, but there is a virus (I think) that wont let me restore my computer. I am convinced that my computer has many viruses on it, for example I can set my homepage, and it even wont let me set my desktop (wallpaper) and it restarts by it-self, and there is more but getting back to my question. Can I just buy a New version of Windows XP, and erase my Memory on my computer /w all those nasty viruses and load the New XP, and that should take care of the problem if thats even possible to do that? PLEASE I NEED HELP AND I CANT AFFORD A NEW COMPUTER!!!!

Interested in getting a Mac Mini for my wife - our return to Mac after many years. I want to get a starter computer that can later be used as a 2nd machine but is strong enough to be the primary one right now. Lots of Music and photos. Minis come with Core Duo - but not Core 2 Duo - Is that an issue? and no graphics card so I'd get at least 1GB RAM since it uses that - but other than that - what do you think?

I'm looking to build my own gaming computer.

The only things I do know I want are: A dual core processor, lots of ram, and a kickass tower.

What I need to know is what video card I should buy? Should I go all out on the new geforce 8800 series or wait? If i get an ok video card now, will i be able to put the 8800 series ones in my motherboard? And if so, what will do for now? So I need a mother board that will support future upgrades, (the motherboard to me is the most confusing part.)

Also, if I get a dual core, either AMD or Intel, will a 2.2ghz x2 processor play a game that needs like 3.1ghz. Anyone have any experience with this?

they both got lighscribe, do i need to buy some special paper for that or anything, or does it do itself?

the life of the thing, i don't understand, so can some one tell me if this is good or not :MTBF(Life)

and one more thing, i got many many movies on my computer and i need to burn them, so will i be able to make them into dvds with good quality? will they work into the ps2 or dvd player? which type is better DVD +R or DVD -R, keep in mind i need them on ps2, which one would you recommend?

I have Creative Labs sound blaster system and it crackles constantly. Reseting defaults in the sound blaster program temporarily fixes the problem but not long enough to even listen to a song and then the crackle is back. Whats wrong?

I just got a new system:
E6600
ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard (with firmware 401)
Corsair Dominator 2GB 800Mhz DDR2

What's the best way to start overclocking? I haven't done it with any of the new chips and I don't want to fry anything.

My case is cooled with 3 120mm fans (side, back & front) and I have a Cooler Master Hyper TX on the E6600 for some extra cooling (used Artic Blue as paste).

So where do I start? I can't seem to set the FSB or unlink the FSB from the PCI, etc.... even in MANUAL mode.

Any specific timings, voltages, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi there,afew days ago i've bought a hard drive and decided to allocate it for Fedora OS.After installing this OS,I found it hard to
work with,so i decided to install XP on this hard drive .I tried to
format this Drive through DOS by this Drive isn't showed in DOS
even its contents isn't showed.What can i do,and how can i format
this hard drive in order to be able to install XP on it?
