I used to have what's called an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) which basically gives ur computer a constant voltage supply. I live here as an expat in Manila btw. Recently the UPS got busted and the computer is directly plugged into the socket which makes it vulnerable to voltage fluctuations etc.

We don't exactly suffer black outs ever. I want to know how urgent it is to get something to replace the UPS and if there's a cheaper alternative.

I dont have UPS and power went off last night. When Power came I have started my PC, I found CPU, MOnitor everything were ON, but I found black screen and I didnt see even boot loader screen. Do any one have any solutions????
I have also worked with JUMPER near battery, no results. Only i can see motherboard splash screen and nothing after that.

It is almost a decade since I am using Windows and have finally decided to try out Mac, I know Vista but it does not look that promising. Coming back to the Mac the two main applications I currently use are Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks both are available for Mac so not a problem. But I have a few basic queries (sorry if they are dumb but I have no idea on Mac) :-
1) Currently in my office I am using Windows XP with ICS so if I connect my Macbook will it work ?
2) Macbook uses AirPort Extreme wireless networking (802.11b/g) so is it compatible with all the Wi-Fi hotspots ?
3) Macs dont come with a PCMCIA slot so it is not possible to use the EDGE data cards for accessing the Internet on the move, Is there any alternative to that ?

i have tried all the ways (opened in safe mode, opened in vga mode), when i try to change the resolution up to higher values (except vga mode-640x480 8 bit) ,monitor goes black. Problem is became yesterday, i used it for two years at 1024x768 at 75 hertz monitor refreshment rate. My monitor is 17" samsung sync master 753s and graphich card 64mb mx440 agp 8x nvidia chipset. Now where is the problem , in my graphic card or monitor, i have very little time to overcome the problem. Thanks for all replies

what is the best way to leave a pc when u use it a lot during the day on and off, everyday? turn it off or put it on stand by? which one damages the pc more? and when i put it on stand by i have a blinking light on the cpu thing, is there anyway that i can put it on stand by and not get the blinking light?

I've had this computer for a while now and use to be able to highlight items, right click and say "send to" the DVD/CD writer. However, now I can't and have to use Nero or a similar program to burn items. It's a bit frustrating. Does anyone know why this has happened and how I can get back to it?

The DLA is still enabled.

I got a Graphic/Video card, and does a Sound Card improve my Gaming? Less lag, and faster gameplay? Sometimes while i play games such as BF2, SWG, WOW, ect., i turn off the sound from options, the the game play is faster and i experience a less Lag.

when the computer starts, a blue screen, (HP) starts and i repeatedly hit F10 so that the system recovery screen comes up, but it doesnt, instead i get an error stating the following:

windows didn't start up correctly, please choose.

safe mode

safe mode with networking

normal start up

if i choose either of these, my computer starts to load then shuts off...what can i do to fix this? i need to do a system recovery to fix this dont i? please someone help!!!

by the way its my cousins computer, he has a dell pavillion 533w :/

Ok so 2 questions here

1.) I put a 9200 ATI graphics card into my computer and I got to display properties and there are 4 different selections for the 9200, are are 2 that say default monitor 9200, 1 that says {default monitor} 9200 and one that says {default monitor} 9200 - Secondary. Now it only is letting me use the secondary one right now and I think it is limiting my performance. Any help would be great

2.) I just installed Knights of the Old Republic and I got to configure to test my hardware to see if its all compatible and it says that my drivers are out of date and it says that Nvida cards must have the latest Detonator drivers when I dont even have a Nvidia card AND I have just updated my drivers when I installed the card.

my present hard disk is infected with lots of virus,spyware,adware, virus, i already tried everything, but the virus,spyware, adware keeps rebooting
