when the computer starts, a blue screen, (HP) starts and i repeatedly hit F10 so that the system recovery screen comes up, but it doesnt, instead i get an error stating the following:

windows didn't start up correctly, please choose.

safe mode

safe mode with networking

normal start up

if i choose either of these, my computer starts to load then shuts off...what can i do to fix this? i need to do a system recovery to fix this dont i? please someone help!!!

by the way its my cousins computer, he has a dell pavillion 533w :/

yea don't buy another Dell,I want hate mine.Mother board is screwed up my reader writeable drive doesn't work.Sorry I can't be of help.

Try bringing up Safe Mode this way:

- With your left hand, press and hold down the F8 key.
- With the right, power on - keeping the F8 key down until you get a DOS menu.
- You will see which choice to make.

I have two Dells and find their support very good. Did your cousin register his PC? If so, he/she should go to www.support.dell.com and sign in. He/she might be able to get a "chat," or at least some help through the Community Forum.

Before you go to Dell, have the SN number of the PC, the express code number, date of purchase, and anything else you can think of to expedite the contact.

Try reformatting/reinstalling your Operating System
