I just upgraded my computer. It IS connected correctly. Both of my dvd drives work fine, even when i try to play a movie that is in dvd format ripped onto my hard drive it, which ever program i am using still crashes, such as powerdvd, windows media, etc. Im running an asus a8n32 mobo, evga 7900gs, lite on dvd-r and sony dvd. Its not a problem with my drives, could it be a video card issue?

Okay.. Here my question. What is the best Intel processor for gaming? Pentium 4? Pentium D? Core Duo? Or Core 2 Duo?

I'm planing to get Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz (around that I guess) on ASUS Motherboard, 1Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, 512Mb ATI Radeon X1600.

Which one better? Pentium 4 3Ghz or Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz? or even Pentium D with 3 Ghz? I want to have a processor with around $250 (means Core 2 Duo 2.someting) or between $150-$200.

Some one give me answers please. I not so up-to-dated since I'm not in the US anymore. And I'm so busy working. Give a compare chart of processor which good with my budget.

What I have choose it cost $980. (as above spec I show up there plus a DVD+/-R and Logitech Inputs plus LCD 17").

Thanks.

I got confused. I have 2 PCs, one in my home and the second in my office.

Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 3.06GHz, ~2.3GHz

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.20GHz, ~2.2GHz

As u see the frequencies of processors are nearly the same but why the Celeron (R) is running slower than Pentium(R)?
RAMs are the same in both,512MB

Is it corrupt or is this a motherboard thing? When I go under my computer I don't see the D drive mentioned. The floppy A is there but when I put in a floppy I get an error message. It use to be there under "my Computer"
the error message on the CD-Rom is:There is no CD-ROM player attached to this computer. CD player can not start. I always had it before. I have used the cd to install printers and play music. I have used the A drive "floppy" to copy a resume. What is up? could a AVAST virus scan remove stuff like that? I have also ran Bitdefender. Where oh where has my D & A drive. GONE!!!!!!!

I've got the Logitech Z-5500 speaker system, and have a smaller-sized computer on top of the sub. Is this bad? Will it cause any sort of long-term deterioration in my computer's components? I don't have huge vibrating bass playing a lot, but sometimes watching movies I'll turn it up and it will shake things pretty good.

I'm not talking about out of my speakers, but from the little beeps that happen all the time for warnings, or keystrokes or whatever. There are small internal speakers that I want to turn off. How do I do that? Thx.

What causes a computer to crash? (in technical terms) And why does Apple (and Linux) claim that their OS is more 'stable' than MS? What makes it less likely to crash.

a pop-up window from norton started appearing suddenly as i was surfing the internet. i always had to click ok to proceed with my surfing, yet it appeared every 3 seconds. i had to say ok all the time. and then, the internet stopped. i asked someone and they said it's Norton whcih is stopping the internet data from coming. so i turned off norton, then all the websites were coming again. no more trouble. whenever i started my computer i had to turn off my Norton first so i could use internet. it's ok, but for how long like this? what's the problem?

I finished building my own computer about 2 months ago, but when I came home from school today, I wouldn't turn on. I checked the power cord, so that isn't the problem. However, I can get NO signs of life from my computer. Even the light on the motherboard won't turn on, indicating that it is not receiving power of any kind. Can anyone tell me what is the problem?
