I got all the parts to build my own computer put it together plugged everything in, put the windows install CD in, after windows formats the HD it stops saying windows can't go on with out damaging your computer. When I restart it, the comp goes to a black screen with a cursor. I've already exchanged the HD but it did the same thing, I must be doing something wrong but I don't know what.

When I play a dvd on my computor it sounds like it skipping but the dvds isn't stratched. I've tried everything even new dvds. It plays but the words sounds wierd. I've tried every player on my computor. But everyone plays the same.

I have the hard drive from my not so old computer and I'd like to put it in this one, can I do it?
It will need to be formatted to this operating system, do I need anything special to do this? Is there any programs on line I can down load to assist?
I understand I have to make it a "slave" to the master.

My computer's speed has decreased greatly from when I first got it. It has been a few years since I purchased it, but it has only been slow for about a month and a half. I'm not sure if its spyware or virus, I doubt it as I have AVG, AD-AWARE, AVAST, SYGATE FIREWALL, SPYCATCHER, BAZOOKA SCANNER, SPYBOT, and a few others so what is slowing my computer down? If anyone answers this and gets my speed back to normal, I'll give you the ten, plus ask 2 more pointless questions and give you a couple more ten's. I really want my speed back.

This is so gay.. just out of the blew my sound stopped working. i thought i must have just messed up the sound chip, so i went over to Comp usa.. they told me to restore my hardware.. so i did, and the sound chip started working again.. then try to stop again.. so i looked at my sound settings, it says i have no sound device installed and its trying to use my modem to act as a sound card. so i went out and bought 1. It said i had a sound device installed and everything. it worked great for a couple of days.. but today when i tried to turn the sound up because the voices on a video wasn't working it said i had no mixer installed. looked at my sound settings and sure enough, "no sound device is installed". but i can still listen to music, just not voices! somebody told me it was a confliction between my sound card and modem.. Will somebody please just tell me how to fix this stupid thing!

Can anyone help me? Lately, I've been having problems with my computer. This is the second time this happened to me. Last week it happened with Itunes, whe I was importing the album. I got the blue screen and lost everything. We've called Apple Tech Support and told them the problem. They said we should've had that problem. It should've happened when I have at least 2500 albums-the HD read it was full. So we've went through everything and to reinstall everything-it came back. We've heard from Ken who gave me info on Archive and Install. Fast week to this week, to today, when it happened today, sans Itunes. This is after when I put it to sleep. Same blue screen. Instead of calling Apple, we reinstalled everything but couldn't Archive and Install, since skipped HD options. Do you know why this happened again? Is it something wrong? Can it be fixed? Or do I need to get a new computer? If it happens again for whatever reason, do I need to do reinstall again? I might have to back everything up this weekend with my EDD, before I sign up for Mac Hardware class, tomorrow. I've had my new Imac for about four weeks this Friday.

i reinstalled nero and tried but it cant. i m using L.G cd writer. while writing in multisession no error messages are seen and writing is doing well but after completing writing i cant wirte that cd any more. and i tried writing small(<200mb) data in cd but it also cant be written in multisession. pls help

I have an HP Pavilion a1110n desktop computer, and lately it seems to be running slower (but I did virus scans & adware scans) both during startup and when I'm using it. Where can I find what programs are running during startup? Also, could it be a sign of a virus/trojan/malware, etc... if my computer won't let me use the system restore to restore it to an earlier time? Or if I keep getting security warnings when I switch pages online even though I check the box to not see that message again? I don't know what the problem could be. I recently downloaded Unbox from Amazon.com, but I don't see how that could be causing any problems since Amazon is a trusted website. I'm not an advanced computer user at all, so I have no clue what to do. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any and all help you can provide me, even if it's just a link to a site to help me figure out my computer problems. Thanks again. :)

its a samsung cd rw(52*24*52). the tray opens when the button is pressed and sometimes it opens automatically. i have another cd r drive which is a little older and having the same problem before. the rw is a new one and this problem started a few weeks earlier. please help

I need to "repair" a program, and when I had Windows 98 before, I went to "shut down", then to "log on in Dos mode" to do the repair. Now that I am using Windows XP, I cannot find out how to ge to the Dos mode...it is not in the "shut down" window. By the way, I DO need to be in Dos mode to do my repair. Thank you in advance.

I reinstalled the operating system of my computer last night 9/12/06 , Everything is running back to norm now only thing is.... I have something that wasn't there before restore.... I have a drive c and a drive H the drive h says RECOVERY (H) .
my desktop toolbar annouces every now and again that my local drive is running out of space on Drive (H) .. THis drive H wasn't not there when I bought comp and never gave me any problems because it wasn't on there.. but now everytime I restart comp it tells me drive H is full and needs more space, so when I click it it takes me to disk clean up... I do not know what Drive (h) or Recovery(h) is and do not know how to fix it to get it off my comp, or make it not show up and say that.. any suggestions and can you tell me the importance of this drive is it also says something like in the Genral discrip. once clicking on propeties that it is FAT32 or something.. what should I do, I have a gateway comp, The icon shows as a comp chip .

I cant turn on my pc... after 50 trys one time let me... i install a brand new windows xp... i update it to date... i install norton... Like new!! Bout now.. i cant turn it on again!! not even to try from Bios... Or load from a boot cd.. I JUst Hear Inside! the CPU a "beep, beeep, beeep" and stop doing anything... before i can load a thing....
