I have used the e-mail support and was just wondering what other Dell users think of the tech support

Out of 10? I would rate it a 9. I have used their email support for a while now and it works great. Just explain your problem and they send you out the part to repair it with. Of course, I work for a company and have a better package than most home users, but home user support is good too. They are easy to deal with and get the problem resolved very quickly.

The phone support is terrible. The reps are difficult to understand. They don't understand the English language. One of the reps sent my request for a disk to another state with a completely different zip code.

Their favorite answer, "It's not covered by the warranty". Dell would get less questions from owners of their products, if they were honest about recalls and defects in the computers. They deny any wrongdoing.

Over time we have had to deal with Dell tech support on a number of ocassions, my husband was the one who dealt with them and we have never been dis-satisfied with their service. While its true that you may always have to wait in line to get a live techie, once you are on with them they have always figured out our problem within minutes. Once we needed a new ribbon in our hard drive due to a manufacturers glitch, they not only ordered it for us and set us up with an install date for when the tech was due to come, but never transferred our call to another dept either, they stayed right on the phone with us the whole time, we've always had very acceptable dealings with dell, can't complain.

reaching to right department and getting hold of a person is real pain.

But if you get an agent who is not new, than they troubleshoot well and get the issue fixed.

They are good in giving stuffs for free and keeping the customers happy as well.

I think they are fine. on a scale of 1-5 (5 being high). i will give them 3 or 3and half.
