What Adnan said but I will throw in that you may have had a power surge since there were power events in your area.

Power surges are bad news in that they usually damage multiple components at the same time. I have seen systems in our shop that you fix one thing and find another, and then another. I do suggest you have someone look at it because if it is a decent system it is worth a video card, but just be very careful it doesn't cost more to fix than it is worth.

proper thanks to fix is truly complicated. probably have a small corruption on your cmos that would want to be cleared truly truly. open the case of your laptop. on the motherboard there'll be a small battery, resembling that in a watch, bout about 3/4 of an inch in diameter. with the laptop off, and unplugged, take this battery out. close to that battery must be 3 pins in a row, with a cap over 2 of them. take that cap off, and placed over the middle pin it replaced into on, and the pin that it wasnt on. press your means button. this can reset the cmos. placed the cap back on the unique pins, placed the battery back in, close the case, plug it back in, and turn on. may ask you to load defaults, hit the button to attain this, and homestead windows might want to boot
