Now it has:

I want to upgrade it with a 1GB DDR2 SDRAM (kingston technologies).

Any tips on installing it?

My dad is deciding between a 17 inch and 19 inch monitor. But he's saying someone told him not to get a 17 inch, because the 19 inch is better. Does anyone know why a 19 inch would be better, except for the fact that it's bigger?

Do 19 inch screens last longer?

Do 19 inch screens have better graphics, or something?

Also, has anyone heard of the brand MAG?? For computer monitors. Is it good?

Okay, so I am having issues booting my laptop. I am assuming (after doing some background reading) that my ram bitten the dust. I also spent about 2 days finding out that the 2nd ram slot is conveniently located under the keyboard. I have accessed both slots (finally). However, before purchasing new stick(s), I need to know if both slots need to be occupied with a stick. And, if not, which should I but a new stick in and which should I leave empty. Currently, I have 2 X 512 MB for a total of 1 gb. I am unsure how to test which (if either to be technically correct) one or if both sticks are bad. Someone please help!

i have 1GB (1x1GB) of 667mhz DDR2 ram running at 533Mhz in my motherboard. i also have another 512MB (2x256) of 400Mhz ram from my old motherboard.

would i get best gaming performance using just the 1GB at 533mhz or would i be better of using all my ram (1.5GB) running at 400mhz?

I am going to start building a computer for myself over the next two years (I will need 2 Christmases worth of money lol). Anyway one of the first things I am going to invest in is a monitor. I really enjoy programming so I am looking for something 22+ in size preferably 24-28. I was wondering where is the best place to get a monitor this size.

Does anyone know the name of the component on the motherboard near the CPU Socket, there's usually a few of them, they may be black or green or some other color, and they look like a ring wrapped in copper wire.

Which is better? Don't worry about rebate or whatever, which would you buy?

Also, are they even compatible with my computer? What do I look at to tell? Thanks alot in advance

Best Answer will be chosen by me and it goes to the most detailed.

While flipping through a magazine years ago, I saw a small email machine that had a keyboard and a small screen attached. It had a modem and it's purpose was to send and receive emails. Something like this would be perfect for my dad who is in his late 60's and refuses to learn how to use the computer. Has anybody seen something like this?

looking at the dell xps 1330 and wondering if there is a significant difference between the core2duo 2mb/1.8ghz/800FSB processor and the core2duo 4mb/2.0ghz/800FSB processor as to jump up in processor is an extra $200. Also the xps comes standard with the uxga ultrasharp screen but you can upgrade for $150 more to the LED screen. the webcam goes down from 2.0mp to 0.3mp but it is supposed to be much lighter and more power efficient. any thoughts.....

My computer, running Windows XP Pro, froze, and it will not reboot. The screen comes up, there is some activity, then screen goes black and says Reboot failed, press F1 to try again, press F2 to go to setup. Pressing F1 just brings up the error message over and over again, and pressing F2 does nothing useful.

I tried to restart the computer with a cd in the drive, and got a different error message - PREVIOUS REBOOT WAS DUE TO VOLTAGE REGULATOR FAILURE. Press F1 etc....

Okay - so what is really wrong with my computer?

I will bring it to pc repair place if I have to, but I want to know if this is something I could try to tackle on my own, if it is as simple as replacing the battery or checking cable connections, or do I really need to call in the big guns?

thanks in advance!

I have a sony vaio VGN-FS395VP from 2005 and it seems to be locked or something. When i press the on button, it turns on, you can hear it work, but the screen stays black and there is no sound, which is an indication that it is not the screen that is dead, but something else... I would say it is somehow locked. CAN YOU TELL ME HOW DO I UNLOCK IT, OR IF IT IS IN SOME OTHER WAY BROKEN, WHAT DO I DO... THANX
