Do you have any children? If so have they played around your computer? And pressed your On/Off button on your monitor at all? It could be stuck in there when children play with your buttons they tend to stick and the spring gets stuck or broken in there for your monitor.
If it's an older monitor you can take it to a TV repair shop to see if they could fix the problem with it. If not, you may have to break down and buy a new one. I know Wal*Mart sells monitor's pretty cheap, if your lucky, or you may find a resonably priced monitor at the Goodwill, or Salvation Army store. I know it sounds corney but, you never know.
good luck.

Well....what have you checked? Since you haven't said, I'm just going to list everything....even the simple stuff.
-Check all the connections, plugs, etc.
-Make sure the monitor and pc is turned on.
-You may need to have a specialist take a look (not necessarily take it to a shop, but ask someone you know that works with computers....make sure you tell them everything you have tried and that it still is having problems)
