this question is just to have my tools and procedures juged by
all of you nice Y!A qna 'ers to find it's misadvantages and learn
more from you,then please do not hesitate to declare any of your valuable suggestions .thanks

to test a graphics card:
1-i install the last version of directx and run it
2-then,run 3D Mark version 6 as my benchmark software
3-install and play 1 or 2 games like
America's Army, Call of Duty, Doom 3, Half-Life, Neverwinter Nights, Quake series, Unreal series and World of Warcraft.
-far cry

please tell what are advantages and dis advantages of such test.
what more tools or specifications should i consider from now on?

How much will it improve my speed to upgrade to 4GB of RAM? I currently have 2GB DDR2 on an Athlon 64 x2 5600+ and I'm wondering how much of a difference it would make for every day use with Vista, video editing and gaming.

I say 4GB instead of 3GB because it's $65 for 1GB and just $95 for 2x1GB on crucial.com so if I upgrade I figure I might as well get the 2x1.

In other words how much will I notice the difference between 2GB of RAM to 4GB?

I got Athlon X2 4200. When I run my favourite game (Everquest II) one of the cores is used in 100%, while the others is used in 0%. Why is the other core not being used? Is it possible to "move some load" from one core to the other?

I have a HP PSC 2355 all-in-one printer for my desktop pc, and it wont print - it says it is clogged up and makes grinding and clunking noises when trying to print, but it never does print. I have had a look inside but cant see anything clogging it up. Any suggestions on how to unclog it would be great thanks.

Looked up a few GPUs in the net and have shortlisted the below:
a) Geforce 7600 GT
b) Geforce 8600 GT and GTS

But my concern is, whether the 8600 GT and GTS will run in 350 watts PSU???

i have a dell inspiron 1300 laptop, and i was wondering if there are any possible upgrades to overhaul the graphics system.

Currently the adapter I run on this is as follows:

Chip Type: Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset
DAC Type: Internal
Memory Size: 128mb
Adapter String: Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset
Bios Info: Intel Video Bios

When I run some games and vids on this, it has a tendancy to lag a lot, and i want to correct that if possible.

Can anyone help?

I am going to build my own PC and I am an above casual gamer but not hardcore. I do not wish to run Vista yet, but I plan to in the future. Also, the computer has to be able to do basic procedures such as browsing the web and Microsoft Office. Please list a complete configuration of the best components to use for maximum performance. I bought a 320 GB hard drive. Of course it never gives you that much so I have 298GB total... For some reason it says I have 244GB of space left...tI dont have anything but Windows Vista installed and Halo and some other stuff all rounding to about 20GB of space i used that i added up. then I should have 278GB laeft. I have an HP Pavilion notebook with an "HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N" drive. This is the drive I use to play games, watch DVDs, and "used to" burn CDs. It worked a few months ago. I used to use "Imation" brand cds, until it quit working. I've also tried "Memorex" and "Dynex", but they've never worked. Anytime I try to burn a cd now, "Roxio Creator Classic" freezes for seven minutes then ejects the disc. Itunes also spits the disc out. I'm sure the discs are empty, I'm even using the discs from the same package as the one's that did work.

Is there some way I can get my PC to work from only ONE OS? It seems to be having an internal battle going on about whether WIN XP should do something, or WIN 98......clogging up the WHOLE thing... takes forever... driving me CRAZY!!!!!
