The disk, either CD or floppy, is write protected. Therefore you can't download files onto it.

If you are trying to write to a CD, it must be a CD-RW (read/write), you can't write to a CD-R (read only)

In the case of floppy disks (does anyone really use these dinosaurs anymore), there's a square, in one corner of the diskette, if the square is open (see thru it), then you can't write to it, if the square is covered by a (usually black) tab, then the disk can be written to.

Do you a floppy in the drive? There are two little square holes in the corners, Place a piece of electical tape or something to block the light over the read/write hole. Sorry, no floppy handy, or I'd try drawing a picture.

It means that you Floppy Disk are write protected. Switch the switch in the right bottom of the back side of the disk up (if it's up already, so switch it down, I forgot which one is protected, up or down)

Is it helpful?
