You probably wouldn't notice a huge difference with ordinary applications, but you will find things will be much quicker with graphically or memory intense things like photo and video editing. But also you will be able to run multiple apps alongside each other without any significant slowdown. If you're using Vista then 4GB is definitely worthwhile because it is such a graphically intense interface which itself can steal memory capacity from other apps. so yeah basically i would get it!

As of right now, there isnt anything out there that would make you notice a difference. But if you are planning for the future then you might as well go for 4gb. The only way you would need to go to 4gb is if you are going to use windows vista, if you are still using xp there really is no point to have 4gb, no game will use that much(as of right now). The 2gb you have now will be just fine for any game out there for at least 1-2years or more.

I say go for the 4 GB. Games and editing use a lot of RAM. I always like to have several sites/windows open at the same time and a person can never have too much RAM. You'll be screamin'.

There would definitely be a difference, but not too much. Don't expect doubled performance. Video editing, if on a high scale, needs as much RAM as possible. Ditto for games. But it all depends on how much speed the processor is packing.

I've recently gone from 512 MB to 1 GB and I haven't noticed much difference except in my use of Microsoft Virtual PC which needs memory to install a virtual OS. Unless you are a compulsive gamer, I would think your existing 2 GB is fine
