There are some disadvantages depending on your cpu and ram and your graphics card. If you have like a 2.4 Ghz CPU and like 1GB of ram it would be a great advantage with your graphics card.

Call of Duty, Quake, and World of Warcraft would be the best advantage I would think to test out your graphics card. If you want better performace you should use DVI (Digital Visual Interface) instead of analog because that is the true test of a graphics card not analog which is like blue with like 15 pins while DVI has more.

Matters also the Graphics card. Doing those test will stress the card and the system in a gaming environment. This will let you know if you are going to have issues at some point and what the issue is. With NVidia they have Ntuning with will do the test and let you overclock the card for better gaming, also if you are running an Nvidia chipset will overclock your board for you. ATI has some catal program to clock and move things around on stats. Then run the stress test to make sure the card will be stable. Some test can go for hours. Just make sure you have good cooling. I hope this helps. Disadvantage is it might stress the card too much, advantage to know your system will not crash when the game is starting to get great.

Its a good system, you probably dont need to test so many games, just take Doom3, Half-Life, and America's Army, possibly Quake as well, they are the most graphically demanding games and would test the card much more then the others.
You can also download Video Card Stability Test, it will give you a good rating as well.

You may also want to test other cards and onboard video at the same time, so you can have a good comparison.

You are doing it right, man. Except that my favorite for testing is COH. And I am always tempted to benchmark also at overclocked settings.
