DVD RW is practically "do it all". Reads and writes DVD and CDs. DVD combo reads all but writes ONLY on CDs.

Bus typically transfers data to and from different PC components. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC_bus

Best thing to do if possible to get a DVD -+RW which will do everything. Or a combo cdr and dvd rom drive if it is a lot cheaper. Just matters if you are wanting to pay the price to burn dvds if the laptop is able. Your Bus speed is like you RAM has a speed of 333fsb (front side bus) and matters the CPU if it is something like 533 or 800 fsb. Which really does not matter what the cd/dvd device does. What the notebook can do depends on the motherboard in the unit. Let us know what brand or anything you can and we can tell you more.

dvdrw combo is a drive that reads and writes both dvds and cds...

the bus is generally a communications path. memory, expansions, discs, etc... these all have dedicated busses.
the faster the bus (in mhz), the faster your hardware can communicate with eachother... allowing a system that runs cleaner and more smoothly.
