I replaced an inkjet and it was not seated properly.I think that I may have done some damage

I already have a HTPC in the living rooma vista box with tuner card, 512mb dvi grafix card, 1.5MB ddr2 ram, 250gig internal and 500gb external harddrive space... so storage of files is not the major factor...

in the bedroom i have an xp box 512mb ddr ram, 160gb and 80gb internal hd, I would like to upgrade, or add a secondary PC into the bedroom set up (i want the current rig to be set up exclusively for skype, the livingroom PC does that now)

asides from the cost advantage (around $400 for xbox360 and around $600 for a vista machine) are there any advantages with going with an xbox 360 over a new vista HTPC for the bedroom... I know the xbox will act as an extender for my VMC content...

could someone provide pros and cons for using either set up...

I already plan on getting a PS3 when GTA IV comes out.. but perhaps, with an xbox360 set up I will just get the game for XBOX (there is supposed to be exclusive downloadable content for the xbox version anyway)

I dont get any signal when I switch my monitor to digital input. The windows properites says I can have dual monitors, do I need to switch to the second monitor for the DVI-D output? Really driving me nutz someone help me. My card is a Raedon X300 and the monitor is samsung 960BW. Both have DVI-D, and the DVI cable is dual link. Should it be single link? I dont know the difference.

my current laptop has 2 RAM slots. One of those have 512 MB RAM on it and the other one is free. Can i use any sized Ram like 256 Mb or 1 Gb on the free slot or does it need to be 512 MB only? The maximum supported for this laptop is 2 GB !

I have a Compaq Presario 555NR notebook. I ran the scan from crucial.com and it said I currently have 512 MB of DDR PC2-5300. It said to install DDR2 PC2-4200, that it was compatible. Can I mix these 2 types?

I recenty pulled out an old hard drive and put it in a new dell tower. This tower didnt have a processor so i got one and applied the thermal greese and installed it. I have the fowllowing installed: 2 sticks of 256gb ram, a intell premuim processor, 40 gb hard drive, Floppy A disk, CD writer. After turning on my computer my screen resviece no signal. I have tried replacing everything except for the processsor. I tried a new moniter, ram, motherboard, hard drive.

Hi,
I have bought a new system Intel Pentium 4 Processor 3.0 GHz with Intel 945 chipset. I have installed a 80 GB Sata HDD and a 60 GB Pata(IDE) HDD on the IDE port. to put simply ... my PC has 512mb DDR 1 ( 184 pin ) Ram . the videp card i am going to bye has 256 mb DDR2 written on the box ( it is a nvidia 6200 agp 8 x ) . are the two DDR types ok ? will it work . once i open the box i cannot return it and i am not being able to come upon any answers by myself .

The reason I ask, is because I was running vista and my graphics card kept crashing and no matter what drivers etc I used still got the problem. I had a spare sata drive and loaded xp on it, but still wanted to keep my vista. Essentially what I want to do is run vista for day to day stuff and play games via xp.

But when I tried to start overclocking it, it shows up a message that it can void your warranty and all.. Is it really dangerous?

Is there anything I should know or be aware of when installing and using my 32-bit apps on Windows 32-bit on a 64-bit CPU? Or should I use 32-bit apps on Windows 64-bit on the 64-bit CPU? Since not all 32-bit apps will work with 64-bit Windows, what is better running the apps/os as 32-bits or running it as split 32/64 apps/os on 64-bit CPU?

Occasionally a bsod with KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR will pop up on my screen and force my computer to restart. This may happen 8 times a day, or only once. Ive looked up possible solutions all over and have not found one that is specific enough to help. I havent found a source to this problem either because the bsod seems to happen randomly. The error message has the 0xc00000185 (or similar) warning at the end and possible causes could be that the code indicates improper termination, defective storage controller hardware, or defective disk cabling, or two devices attempting to use the same resources. I got the comp brand new in january, worked fine throught april when the crashes started occurring. Then I wiped it clean and started over. It again worked perfectly up until the beginning of July and has been pestering me since. I am almost at my wit's end with these crashes and a solution would be greatly appreciated.

when i insert 1 gb pen flash drive , the computer hangs. The computer also says power surge in usb ports . Says usb port has exeded its power limits.
