I have just upgraded to Vista Ultimate and my graphics card does not support many features of Vista. My card is Intel Extreme Graphics 2. I prefer an nVidia GeForce(AGP slot present)

Fast DX9= 7900GS AGP, X1950 Pro AGP, 7950GT AGP

DX10 AGP (not a fast model yet) = http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/VisionTek-HD2400-PRO-256MB-Graphics-Card-A2400P256AGP/sem/rpsm/oid/189080/catOid/-13043/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

First off, some corrections to the above posts:
1 The Geforce 6800 is NOT DX10 compatible. In the Geforce line the 8500, the 8600 and the 8800 are DX10 cards.

2 There are quite a few fast DX10 cards, just not fast DX10 GAMES. The 8800GTX is the fastest card around and its fully DX10 compatible. It will blow any of the DX9 cards mentioned right out of the water, with any game out there.

On the Radeon side, all of the X2k series cards are DX10, such as the X2900, X2600, etc.

Unfortunately, you won't find any of these cards in AGP format. AGP is dead and quickly disappearing.

But the good news is that you really don't need a DX10 compatible card, you just need one with 256 MB and the latest vertex/pixel shader version. I'd suggest an ATI Radeon X1650.

You need a DirectX 9 card to use Vista's Aero interface. Since you have AGP, an nVidia 6800 (256mb or 512mb) would be a good choice. There's very little point upgrading your whole PC just so you can use a DirectX 10 card. Nothing requires one yet!

Thats a difficult question , how many graphics cards can run to vistas 10 X direct? . I will keep my XP os untill all the add ons have the correct driver software written for them . Now dont get me wrong vista is very good but has the usual teething problems, if you are a serious gamer and not into groovy video editing , then save all your video RAM for your games and not lose so much running the Vista Graphics.Seriously it uses heaps for itself not like XP.

It does not matter the brand, just one that is compatible with vista and has a minimum of 128 mb of memory.
