when i insert 1 gb pen flash drive , the computer hangs. The computer also says power surge in usb ports . Says usb port has exeded its power limits.

You have probably attached a high power consuming device on one of the other USB ports.

Are you using a USB hub?
Each USB port has a limited supply of power and if you are using a hub, there might not be enough power if you have other things attached.

If you are getting this message when the drive is connected to the main USB port, then there may be a failure as indicated by the other user.

You can check the Device Manger for the power usage of the USB ports (Windows).
Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Right click USB Root Hub (there may be more than one) > Power tab.

Try the drive on another computer. If it works on another computer, then your USB port might have failed. You may need to take it to a repair center. Is it still under warranty?

There's some errors on the USB such as :
- Viruses attacked
- Unformatted
- Damaged power connection
