I have a problem with my Gateway PC--I got it with XP and upgraded to Vista--had too many problems?

so I did a Operating system wipe and went back to XP, Now my pc wont recognize the ethernet or modem---WHAT DO I DO?

You are missing the drivers for both the devices. Apparently they were not included on the XP CD. (Only about 10% of them are).

Assuming that both the modem and nic card came with the PC, go to the website of the PC manufacturer and look in the Drivers and Download (or Support) section. Look up your model and you should find the drivers for both for free. Get the video, audio and chipset drivers while you are there also.

Format with your xp cd and reinstall xp.
