Did the sound work before you got the new hard drive? If you reinstalled windows, you are probably missing your sound driver.

Hard drive and sound aren't directly related.

I'm going to assume that you are using this new harddrive as the master and you had to reload windows and whatnot (or transfer it from the existing hard drive).

What you need to do is check your audio drivers.

go to start-> run and type "dxdiag" without the quotes.

Click on the audio tab, and look at the top right content box, does it have a driver? If so, is this the correct driver?
If not, and even if it is, you can go to the website of the company that made your sound card (or motherboard if sound is integrated) and download these drivers completely free of charge.
