just wondered what is making computer so slow to start it up it takes about 5-10 mins .Is there anything i can do to get things started quicker? Once it is running the internet works fine,Cheers Lynne:)

I bought a used Alienware desktop pc almost a year ago. i didnt really need a desktop but it was so cheap that i bought it. Anyways when i go into the System Properties it says Intel Pentium D HT processor and it shows the speed of the processor as 3.79 but says it twice. Does that mean that my computer has two processors? I have a copy of the original order form and it said it has two processors but i think i only see one processor inside the case.

When i press my pc "ON" botton. the power seems to work just for 1sec then gone.
normally the red pilot light behind my power supply will turn green. this time it will not light for a short moment then trun red again just when it cuts power to my pc.
any body can help??

I'm thinking of buying a graphics card for my computer but i cant find the proper specs for the graphics card...
i no the power requirements(well the watts only) but i can't find the amount of amps on the +12 volt rail requirments.
SO CAN ANYONE HELP ME!!
by the way i'm currently using an integrated geforce 6150 (which sucks!)

Okay so I play World of Warcraft and used to have a faster comp but something made that comp crash and I am now stuck with my computer I bought in 2004. It is an Emachine and has 64mb Ram. Well I was told the game takes atleast 512 mb Ram to run it properly. I can load it up and play on this computer but it is soooo slow. It takes me about 10 minutes to move my charactor 5 feet. So what do you recommend? I was thinking of getting a whole new computer but then thought it would be cheaper to buy whatever I need to make the game and the comp run faster. Please Help. Thank you

So today at 6AM, I turned on my comp. to review a report for school. W/n 15 minutes of reading it, my comp suddenly shuts down. I let it go as a "overheating power supply" Once I get back from school 8 hours later, I find that my comp. still isn't turning on. I've tried, restarting it, unplugging the main cord, but nothing has worked so far. I'm reasoning this as a dead power supply, but I may be wrong. Do you have any idea as to what could possibly be wrong w/ my computer.

Oh and I've had this dekstop for 4 years now w/ the same power supply. I'm not sure if I should get a new comp, or just get a new power supply.

What do you think of this whole thing? I think, before we go sending 1 laptop to every child in other countries, that we should give our kids laptops first. Even in this day and age, kids in the US and Canada dont have computers in their home. As a kid myself, id like to have a computer to take from home to school. I wouldnt have nearly as much stuff to lug from class to class.

These computers are supposed to be called,

OX classmate PC, so read up on them. they sound pretty cool for the most part, and super cheap for what they are.

My current computer specs.
Intel Pentium 4 524 (HT) @ 3067 MHz
My Memory is Xerox 256 MB PC2100 DDR
My motherboard is Intel D101GGC
And I have a 30 something gig hd, dun no what speed it is.

What I want to do is buy a new hard drive, probably a WD 7200 rpm SATA 3.0gb (will this work with my motherboard?)

Than i plan to get 1 gig memory DDR 400 added to my 256 which is PC 2100. Is it better if I get 512 x2 DDR 400 (throwing out the 256; or get 1 gig pc3200 added to a slower speed 256 pc2100.

Which is better for my memory choice? 512 x2 pc3200 or 1g pc3200 + 256 pc 2100

ALSO is this a good upgrade or should i just get another PC??

I'm wanting to buy two 512mb sticks of DDR 400 SDRAM (PC3200) and I just want to know what brands to avoid and what brands to consider, preferably under $50 per stick but not el cheapos.

For instance, I've heard mixed things (but mostly good) about Kingston and that cheap Corsair RAM dies after a few months.
