Yes it will work. Make sure your power supply is rated for at least +12 Volt current rating of 22 Amps for the power supply leg suppling the video card.

Note: The 8600GTS is about 23% faster than the 8600GT.

NVIDIA 8600GT ($119+) FRAPS= 43.1
NVIDIA 8600GTS ($133+) FRAPS= 53.6 (23% faster)

FRAPS = Frames per second (Higher is faster)

Definitely it will work. Your motherboard has the right slot, x16 PCIe. http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=101&l3=296&l4=0&model=1138&modelmenu=1
Consider the factory overclocked version. If you pair it with a 2.8ghz or higher dual core, it will perform very close to 8600GTS territory.

Overclock the card some more and it will really work like a GTS. http://sg.vr-zone.com/index.php?i=4925

on your scale, that's stable. It beats no longer something, yet there are various greater advantageous chips available. that's going to run WoW ok and allow for good photograph modifying. For writing papers and working with song information, that's super.
