Okay so I play World of Warcraft and used to have a faster comp but something made that comp crash and I am now stuck with my computer I bought in 2004. It is an Emachine and has 64mb Ram. Well I was told the game takes atleast 512 mb Ram to run it properly. I can load it up and play on this computer but it is soooo slow. It takes me about 10 minutes to move my charactor 5 feet. So what do you recommend? I was thinking of getting a whole new computer but then thought it would be cheaper to buy whatever I need to make the game and the comp run faster. Please Help. Thank you

By the way! World of Warcraft is not ruining my life thank you. I am a live in caregiver and I like to play world of warcraft in my spare time. Thanks!

I did some research and found that I can buy 2 gigs of ram for a little over a hundred bucks. I dont know how to tell if my emachine will take that or not. In the long run what would be cheaper for me to do? New system or look into buying more RAM? If you choose buy more RAM then where would I look at to find a place that sells ram? The only place I seen was Staples. Thanks

I also play wow and can tell you that ram is the most important part of the game 512 is a bare minimum and with this you are gonna lag horribly in capitol cities. Around 1 gig with a decent cpu it is not so bad. I have 2 gigs and never have lag , unless it is a server side spike. Quite honestly you will pay almost as much as much forthe upgraded memory as you would for a new system. Get a baseline model that has the specs you need, use you peripherals to save money and only go for the tower., Check around and you can find closeout deals on this years models that are really cheap. Also it is entirely possible you can't upgrade far enough, check the specs to be sure before you waste the money on any of it.

Yeah I would definatly want to add more RAM if you only got 64 MBs. for a game like Wow you should have proably a Gig to be safe, and if you can afford the extra $40 get 2 Gigs. getting a new processor might help, but you probably ahve like a pentium 4 or D which should be pretty good (unless you want to do like torrents while playing Wow hehe)

Also see about fixing your old comp. The $50 you spend to get it fixed will be cheaper then to buy more parts.

let us know which route you want to take and i can give suggestions

With WinXP, use no less than 512MB system RAM. If using M$ Vista, all experts suggest the same thing, no less than 2.8GB of system RAM and if using any programs, suggest going to 4 GB of system RAM. Have both Win XP machine and a Vista machine, I can validate the above amounts of RAM are necessary. (Vista = hog when it comes to RAM,,, be like driving a flashy sports car with flat tires).

And furthermore, dont fall into the video card scam that a high RAM video card will have better results, or the latest scam that it will help Vista (it wont), because RAM is storage only, (like the gas tank in your car) not processing power.

A computer which is produce out of factory with 64MB ram. I bet it wont support many upgrade especially when u mention system that would support WoW. U'll beed faster processor at least P4. To do so u'll need new MoBo and of course RAM. From my experience with old machine, u'll also need new PSU. better off buying new PC or repair the one that crash.

Game performance is a lot more dependent on the graphics card. A PC with a fast processor and 2Gb RAM but w/ just crappy integrated graphics or entry level card is still a crappy gaming PC.

Well you didn't state which processor you had, but 64MB of RAM? Er... is that video memory? Either way, that's horrendous, and you DEFINITELY need to upgrade - honestly, a new, cheap gaming build may be the best option if it's that bad...

Yes get more RAM 1gb or 2gb should be plenty. Dont forget to look for a nice graphics card. Graphics cards are really what matters the most when gaming.
Good luck.

Well first of all get off the metaphorical needle that is World of Warcraft before it ruins your life. Secondly if you do get a new computer...get a Mac. Simple.

Get more RAM. That is not nearly enough for a game like WOW.

64MB RAM is a BIG differenc from 512MB if you ask me. Just upgrade your RAM; its the cheapest and easiest way to make your computer stronger.
