Your PC usually comes with 512mb of ddr-333mhz RAM. It looks like it was replaced with a smaller one.
Better install 2x512mb of ddr-333mhz.
Here's how to do it:

Well I actually went and checked myself instead of just telling you to go somewhere, and DDR2 will not work, you need DDR. Get this set here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141434
Just open the case, take the old stuff out and pop the new stuff in.

go to dell.com with your serial number enter the number into the area asking about your pc. you must be sure that your new ram will be compatible with your pc. the ram you should use will be displayed on the components page.

go to http://www.crucial.com/ and go to "SCAN MY SYSTEM" this will tell you exactly which RAM your system can handle.
If the kingston RAM shows up in the list of recommended memory modules, then you can install it, otherwise i recommend you dont risk it.

Possibly, but you need to call Best Buy or any other PC shop and read them your PC model to see if they even make RAM for your PC anymore. Once they say yes, ask how much is available. 1 GIG is alot for an older model (meaning that it may not be available).
