I am going to upgrade my desktop because I have a calculation project that I need to do. Therefore, SPEED of cpu is the most important!!! Should I choose a dual-core cpu or 2 cpu? Which cpu you would recommend? Please give me the best option and I will think about the price later.

My drive is Light Scribe enabled but when I put the disk in upside down, as per the instructions, the DVD burner keeps trying to read it. Nero Cover Designer keeps hanging and freezing the computer while waiting for the DVD burner to stop reading. Is there anyway to get the DVD burner to stop trying to read the upside down disk so I can proceed with burning the Light Scribe image?

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook PC/HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop.

For some reason, it just randomly turns off, and I don't know why. This might pose a dilemma later on, as I am starting, and if I'm working on something very vital to my success, and it just turns off, I would've lost all my hard work.

I pretty much always leave it AC-power connected. I rarely bring my laptop anywhere.

I think the battery-life is short also. I would say a fully-juiced battey only lasts around an hour and some more.

I have an HP C3180 All In One. When I scan images, they get saved in C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Temp\~Dest\0001iw\

That's just crazy! How the hell am I going to find my images there? LOL

Can somebody please tell me how to automatically have my scanned in images get saved in something more reasonable like My Scans or My Documents folder or something like that?

OK, so I have two hard drives one being a master and having 74.5 GB of storage. The other being a slave with 298 GB of storage. I transfer files from the master to the slave, but it got interrupted. I tried to started again but now it's just messed up, I'm right now formatting the disk drive. Is there any other way to transfer files besides copy and pasting? I think I have everything I need, including a router. I don't want to make a network, only to be able to use my notebook wirelessly. I've looked at a bunch of sites, but they start getting confusing, and having me choose options that I don't even see available.

What's a good, straight-forward, well-written site on doing this? Any tips?

ok i have asked about safe overclocking befor and the answers were mostly no there is no safe way to overclock now i dont really have the money for a 2.4 because its 300$ i want to see if i can get a 1.8 and overclock it to 2.4 or around that unless i can find a 2.4 for cheap so is there an easy way to overclock a 1.8 core 2 duo ora cheap 2.4 core 2 duo

Ok, I have been struggling with this for a while a now.
I recently build a new pc with an eVGA 680i motherboard.

After installing Windows XP Professional and installing all of of the drivers for my hardware I found the volume controls on my keyboard are not working. Just the volume up and down and mute dont work.. the other media functions such as play, pause, stop, back, forward work just fine. (same with my remote) all of these worked fine on my previous PC.

The 680i mobo had on board sounds, so I decided to disable and install my Audigy 2 ZS sound card, after drivers installs and patch updates.. STILL NO VOLUME CONTROLS.

Please help if you can.. any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There IS sound on my pc.. I just have to control it through the sound control panel in windows which is a real pain.
