MAC graphical interface works directly to the machine level.
Windows graphical interface converts the "clock" to a equivalent DOS command and then goes to machine level. With XP and Vista its been modified a lot but I don't think its totally like MAC.
MAC processor are always RISC processor - a true multitasking processor which works at least 5 times faster than CISC processor which is used by PC. The most modern PC processors are a mix of RISC and CISC but it never can migrate to a 100% RISC processor as the IBM Compatible programs never work in RISC.
However Bill Gate has 10000 times better marketing policy which has made PC the market leader.

Other than the hardware etc, the visual interface and usability. Macs are generally easier on the eyes and "flow" more. Macs are also more used for graphics and video type stuff, that sorta creative thing. However PCs are MUCH better for things like data processing and spread sheets type things.
And, there are a lot more softwares for PCs, so you gotta make sure your favoirte game works on Mac (or whatever) and also Macs are "more secure" since most people write viruses for PCs.

They are two operating systems that are used differently. The basic idea of files, word processing, and internet is the same. Its like comparing a car thats either automatic or manual. Its the same car, just used differently : )
