i got a virus and i need to delete everything but my OS, and i can do the delete/add programs thing because my cpu is too slow to do that

have u tried cleaning the virus up. if u still have the os cd just format the pc and install the os again. or u can delete other program by using dos

But ur OS is the stuff affected by virus. Why don't you try a patch for the virus, if you know which one it is or you can download free anti-virus first and try that. If that does not work, it will at least tell you the virus name. Then you can search for a patch for the same.
Patch: Is a specialized virus removal tool
Free Anti-virus: www.grisoft.com has AVG, a good one I use.

Sorry but just deleting the files and leaving the OS will not work!
Most viruses hijack the operating system by changing system files.
It will be better downloading a free trial anti virus program, and let it delete them for you.

Put in your OS disk
Re-start the computer
Press any key to boot from the CD
Follow instructions to install new OS
Delete old partition
Install OS on blank partition

get a copy from walmart of windows xp home upgrade ($99.00) and an old copy of any windows OS ever made When you install xp it will automaticly reformat then at some point it will ask for your system disk (95,98,me,2000,or ,xp )pop it in and run it ,then it will ask you to put the xp setup disk back in . then you complete the install. for the system disk ask your freinds I'm sure someone has one they will loan you

Get the OS bootable disk and reboot from the CD. Once you do that, you can freshly install the OS.

Go to Programs, accessories, control prompt.........
This will bring up a box with the C:\ prompt.
Next to the C:\ type format C:/s
That will format your C drive and leav the OS on there.

If only there were a way..
Sorry, but the only way to do this is get the original Win. XP install CD and completely reload teh computer.

*NOte: THis will delete EVERYTHING. Pictures of kids, music, etc.

Well if you wipe your hard drive your OS goes too.
Have you tried an online virus scanner?
