I have an HP C3180 All In One. When I scan images, they get saved in C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Temp\~Dest\0001iw\

That's just crazy! How the hell am I going to find my images there? LOL

Can somebody please tell me how to automatically have my scanned in images get saved in something more reasonable like My Scans or My Documents folder or something like that?

After you scan the document/picture, you should have the option of what directory you want to save it to, at this time is when you change it to My Documents or My Pictures. If not then go into your Hp Imaging Program and change the Directory in there

Just right click on the HP Scanner icon and select Properties. A window will appear, and hopefully, there will be a dialogue box for you to choose which folder you want the files to saved into. The reason why your pictures were saved in the Temp folder is because that is the default address as programmed by the designers.

This should work:
Open My Computer - look at the bottom for scanners. (your scanner must be plugged into the computer and turned on)
Right clk the scanner listing and do Properties. There you should find settings.
Being HP, you can get free help from HP even out of warranty. Out of warranty is email help only but the same tech will stick with you until the problem is solved, no matter how many emails it takes. Go to: www.HP.com and look for tech help link. On your first email telling of the problem include the model and serial no. They are required for any help from HP. Good luck... :)

just change the destination folder go to properties of scanner and change it from there. if its hard for you then goto C:\Documents andSettings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Temp\~Dest\0001iw right click on it select create shortcut and paste the shortcut on desktop. it will directly take you at that default folder.
