Pressing and holding for 15 secs is for shuttingh down a laptop. You should just be pressing the on/off firmly "click" for one second. If this does not work you probably have a power problem.

Sounds like you have a power supply problem. I had a friend, it was a desktop that he had a problem with tough. When he would hold the button in it would work let go of it and it would turn off. He thopugh he had a switch problem. Turns out his prower supply was faulty.

From my experience in repairing hundreds of Dell laptops, no turn on whether on AC or battery power means time for a new mother board.

If it's plugged into the AC power and not turning on, then I would say that you have a power supply problem and it needs to be taken in.

If it's running off the battary, then you need to plug in it, let it charge and work off the AC.

You need POWER. If the battery is weak and it is not connected to power, the laptop can't turn on.

If it is a Apple bring it into the apple store or charge it if it wont wake up, the battery is most likely dead.

There might be a power problem, remove the power cord and battery, and try again.

It's probably out of battery. Try recharging it.

If that doesnt work, take it in and have it looked at.
