my hard disk autoplays very slowly and delays especially in my music folder. i have many songs and i can't open the file. i scanned for viruses but there doesn't seem to be any. what could be the problem?

i have a pavilion 714a, with 2 slots for ddr ram. the hp website says its expandable to 1g. on another it says 2g.
i would like to expand to 2g but need a final answer.
also, currently running at 760mb with plenty or hd space left, my pc seems to freeze during multitasking. would more ram help with this issue, or is it a case of having a p4 2.4ghz processor?

How do I find out the make and model of my motherboard? I'm running Window's 2000 and I'd like to upgrade my processor. If need be I will replace my motherboard. Offhand, if I have a Pentium 4 processor(1.6 GHz) what the best processor I could probably upgrade to?

just got my 6 week old Acer back from them after they replaced the hard drive. It was locking up constantly, sometimes only a minute after a boot up. Now, only 3 or 4 hours on the fresh hard drive, it locked up again. What am I doing wrong? Can it not be used on my lap (or other non-level surface) as the nickname suggests?

I have this gateway laptop for almost 2 years come april. In the past 7 months i've had to reboot it several times. Recently its been so bad that its been making this clicking noise every second and would not load my windows xp at all. I just reinstalled windows xp and it is still clicking about every 45 seconds or so. It has been over heating whenever i lay in my bed with it on my lap and i would have to let it cool off for 5 minutes or so to turn on. Also, whenever I burn DVD's.......most of the time it would get either atapi.sys error of somesort nd win32k error message. Main thing, i got 2 months left on my warranty. Shouldn;t they replace my hard drive or something if that is the problem?

I have an old computer that got wet and I wanted to do something creative with it. Like turn the moniter in to a fish tank, but I need ideas for the printer, modem, mouse, keyboard and speakers.

When I turn on my computer, I get nothing - no beeps and my monitor shows a "black" screen just like if it were turned off. I can hear the fan running but that's it. Any suggestions?

Even when I hit F1 to enter setup it load maybe 85% and then it freezes. I have to unplug my computer to start it again. I tried using a startup disk, I tried clearing cmos, even moved the jumpers to recovery and still nothing. Please anyone HELP ME!!!!!!!!

I bought a memory card for my cell phone and whenever i hooked it up to the computer and try to move pictures/music from my computer onto the card i won't let me. It says it " cannot copy. disk is write-protected". But I can move files from onto the card from my phone. How can I remove the write-protection on the card??? Please help, this is driving me crazy!
