You can also try to defragment the hard disk by right clicking on my computer and click on manage and then choose the disk defragmenter.
Also you can search *.tmp files on your comp in search wizard n delete them it will also increase ur pc's processing

If you place your ear close to the drive and hear a odd noise 'like a clicking or weird whirring' it could be a bad sector on the drive and its trying to read it. At this point the drive is failing and should be replaced. Now days a nice hard drive will cost about 40-60 dollars. I would suggest disabling autoplay and using a hard drive checker (norton disk doctor, spinrite, etc) to check for bad spots.

Maybe there's too much file in your disk. too many files cause awfully slow in everything. Try to delete some of your files, then defragment your whole hard disks. Defragmenting is for optimizing your computer performance. Other probability is that your comp. memory is too low. Or the pentium, or the directX.

1)I suggest u to increase your hard drive capacity.Due to overloading of the hard drive, the drive opens slowly.
2)If u would like to go for something more economical, delete some of the junk present in that hard drive.
3)Also you can defragment your disk as said earlier by Raman.
Hope that helped!
