It will consume about the same amount of power as two digital alarm clocks....

Check the voltage on the slot above the DC plug. If it's less than 9 volts, it consumes no more power than a video game console, and no, it doesn't consume a lot of power. If it consumes 12-18 volts, it would be as if you're running a laptop all day, and one or two routers I saw used up to 24 volts, but those were professional ones I saw in a cabinet at work supporting Symbol PDT Guns.

I doubt any home router would consume that degree of power. Your router should be just fine to leave on all day.

A wireless router will use about 5-6 watts. Maybe 7-8 if it is one of the "super range" versions.

This will translate into 1 kilowatt hour every 125 hours or so of it being on. A kilowatt hour costs about 10 cents on average. So to make a long story short, it will cost you around 60 cents a month.

In comparison, a single light bulb (incandescent) will use around 40 watts. Over 4 times as much.

no i leave comp and netgear router on all day. i think you're supposed to leave it on. never really thought about it though.
my phones connects to it and so does a laptop belonging to another family member so going to the computer room and turning it on isn't convenient, it kind of defeats the purpose of having it.

it would consume a good deal of power, but now where near as much if you are constantly connected to it and downloading, thus forces it to emit more power and work harder
