Had usb key attached to pc when i formatted and installed new version of xp. Now can't acces the key. The system says that it needs to be formatted, but it won't allow me to do that.

I am looking for a used laptop for my Dad to use. He doesnt need anything high tech just simple enough to access wireless internet. Doesn't need much memory really doesnt need anything but able to access the net(not dial up) please help! Dont wanna pay a whole lot either $100-$250 ish?? Am I asking to much?? or maybe someone knows of a website BESIDES Ebay

it is recognized as usb mass storage in the device manager, but i can't access it in my computer. (it doesn't show up as an icon) it was working just fine up until now and nothing hasn't been done out of the ordinary.

Would this be a bad idea? to save my comp.?
I messed up my comp really bad with viruses and trojens and such. (i look at bad things when i get depressed) so i was thinking of buying a new HD and transfering all the things i want to it and then tossing out the old HD. would that work?

i am pretty sure my HD is far beyond saving.

the mother board, dvd drive and moden should be save still right?

my comp is 1.5 years old...bought it summer of 05

I just purchased an external hard drive because my internal is filling up quick. How should I used the external hard drive? Should I only use it for files or can I store games like Madden or my video editing program on it? Will playing a game from the external drive hurt the performance? Should it be connected via the USB port or the Firewire?

I am going to buy a laptop this week. I do not currently have a computer at my home at all. Here recently my computer would just shut down on its own. So I done a system recovery and since then it wont dectect the modem so that I can get back online. Is there a way, step by step that I can get the computer to dectect the modem again? When I reinstall the aol software it say's that aol connectivity service has encountered a problem and then it will close. Then it will say that its not detecting my modem, when the day before it was working just fine.
What should I do to fix it, Its still in good shape and I dont wanna junk it. I have tried everything I can think of, if someone can help it would be greatly appreciated!!
