Take it to a computer store like computer USA and let them clean it up for you.....they will save all the files they can..if there is any important info like home work back it up to a flash drive.

Assuming your HDD is physically ok and not physically damaged, you should not need a new one.
Best thing to do would be to burn all files you wish to transfer to CDs or DVDs and then format your hard drive and reinstall the OS.
Simply installing a new drive and attempting to copy info from one to the other (including the OS) will not work without the help of a third party program allowing you to copy boot sectors and such. Even then, you can not be sure your boot sector is free from viruses/errors.

Best bet like I said is to format HD and write zeros to the drive (rewrite drive with empty date to make sure it is wiped out). Also delete and redo the partitions on the drive. After, reinstall the software and then scan your CDs or DVDs you made to make sure there are no viruses or trojans on those files.

If any of this sounds confusing, you will need help from a knowledgeable computer friend.

The easiest thing to do would be to move all the files you want onto CD or a flash drive. Get the CD for your OS (probably windows) and reboot with it in the drive. Look for an option that says "format" which means it will completely wipe out your hard disk. When you are all set up go to download.com. Get avast antivirus, ad-aware and spybot these are all respectable freeware programs. Do a scan on your files in your flash drive/cd before you transfer them to make sure your old viruses don't sneak back in.

Do a "system recovery"

To get your computer back to looking like new, do "a system recovery" These instructions, will clean everything off of your hard drive, so you must back up anything that you want to save. I have done this three times, and I got these instructions, from a computer tech. When starting your computer, tap the F-10 key. click on next-yes-and follow the instructions, that come up on your screen. When you are finished, your computer, will look just like it did, when you first bought it.Do these steps, in order, when finished.
1. set up windows firewall, in control panel
2. windows update (click express)
3. install your anti-virus program (update)
4. install anti-spyware (update)

best thing to do is save the items you want on a cd or external drive, if you have a cd burner that would be best, then once you have everything you need saved, do a clean reinstall of windows, and select the option to FORMAT your hard drive and start a fresh install, this will delete all of the data permanently on your hard drive including any viruses, torjans etc...along with all your other data...once you have windows reinstalled you can put all of your data back with the cd your burned

get a really good anti-virus and anti-spyware like Norton Internet Security. If that doesnt work, reformat your hard drive. But just make sure you backup all the files that you want to keep.
