Does deleting music off of your hard drive make your computer faster? I was just wondering since it is taking up space and the comptuer does load everrything on the hard drive when it boots up. I'm just wondering because I want to speed up my PC.

Also, does deleting pictures off of your computer speed up your PC more as well?

I thought this would be easy, I thought wrong...I figured I had an empty port under my cd rom drive, but its covered after you take the plastic cover off with metal, and it doesnt come off...so I figured I would take out my regular cd rom drive, but I cant slide it out of the slot either...Is this even worth my time to mess with and can I used a dvd-r as my only rom drive?

I have recently bought a new Intel Core2Duo desktop. The processor is an E6400 from the DELL website.
I was wondering if its possible to switched to an E6700 processor? They should have the same sockets(LGA775, I believe), chipsets and since all the hardware is new, this new processor won't be "held back" in terms of performance, right?
I was also wondering if switching would be worth it? What really attracts me to the E6700 is the increased L2 Cache from 2MB to 4MB, and the speed, of course. Thanks for your help!

Does the PCI slot correlate to a certain IRQ? For instance if you put the soundcard in slot 1, 2, or 3, does it work the same? Is there a PCI slot specificly for the modem? There's no agp slot involved.

It's goes to standby to quickly and drives me nuts. I would like to set it so that it doesn't go to standby on its own until about 1-2 hours of being idle.

My pc does not even show that there is a dvd drive plugged in to the computer. It was listed as my E drive. Went to use it one day and it is gone. The computer doesn't even recognize that there is something plugged in. I think it is more than the driver being gone but I do not know. The DVD player has very been used very little. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The computer is a Dell if that helps. I have replaced the hard drive and processor. When all that was done, everything was in place and working.

Okey here goes nothing. I got a Presario V6000 for Christmas this year and i know nothing about laptops. I'm setting up my computer right now and I'm stuck. It says unable to connect to the internet. I have a laptop, and its getting pretty slow. its through a wireless network from the pc downstairs. the pc is well slow, mine quicker, but still slow ive nearly had it a year. Its a Dell. I dont have alot of stuff on realy. Ive got pics and music. I try to delete programs but not sure which ones i need especially its its a laptop. I do antivirus chekups everyday. and delte my internet files and clear data and cookies etc. i think im doing it all right, but its pretty slow what could it be? do i need to defrag more often? thanks. ps please can you say it in simple terms, i dont know too much about computers! just the basics really, x

i have 3GB file in zipped format(winrar format to be exact) now i want to copy this file to my other pc's .the other pc has a cd rom only. so is there a way by which i can break up this file into pieces which can fit on a CD and then copy those indiivdual pieces to the other PC?plz advice?
