Absolutely not, in fact, if you move you larger files and things that are unnecessary from you computers hard drive to the external hard drive it will help it run quicker. I recommend a sea disk ext. drive. Well priced for a really reliable and fairly hard wearing product.

No. I have a 10 gig USB enclosure for an external hard drive I had laying around. Now I can store things on it and remove it from the computer and take it to another (at school or work).

installing onto any media will slow down the computer as it needs to register everything into windows. when that registry starts to get cloged, it will slow down Installing onto an external drive will also make it slower to load those games/programs as generally speaking, the external drives are slower. While transfering data to the external hard drive it might slow down preformance but not while just being plugged in

The speed depends upon the RAM capacity. I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required

If it is connected via USB they make the computer a little bit slow. If you r having a computer with good speed(2.4 Ghz. and above) that should'nt make any difference.

the transfer rate will be slower 50 mb per second on USB 2
12 mb on USB 1
