WinRAR has a feature to split the zipped file in to several smaller zipped files. You can set the size for the split files to be < 700 MB/each. Transfer all the zipped files to the other PC then combine them again with WinRAR. There is a tutorial with illustrations at:

If you are using Windows XP, there is an easier way to transfer files from one computer to another, namely XP's Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (FAST for short).. Lifehacker's website has a good tutorial with illustrations and step by step instructions:
"Transfer files and settings to a new PC" -- written by rick broida, lifehacker.com (http://www.lifehacker.com/software/windows-xp/transfer-files-and-settings-to-a-new-pc-211276.php)
"At one time or another, most users have faced the daunting challenge of migrating to a new PC. What many users don't know is that Windows XP comes with a tool designed to simplify the process: the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (FAST for short).
Although FAST doesn't move installed applications, it does copy folders, address books, e-mail accounts and messages, IE favorites, Outlook data, and most other crucial files and settings. It's easy to use and comes free with Windows XP.
You can find FAST by clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools. The utility can copy all your stuff via a network, a direct cable connection between the two PCs, or removable media (like a portable hard drive). I've used the wizard numerous times in the past, and it always works like a champ. And I'll be using it when my shiny new notebook arrives next week.
What's your favorite migration method? Would you like to see a Lifehacker feature detailing the step-by-step process of moving to a new PC? Let us know in the comments!...[more]."

Three ways
1: share the file out on your home network and then you could just copy the file from the shared folder to your other pc's
2: using winzip, you can specify the file size to zip it (if its cd rom then you'd need to set the file size to 600 or 700mbs') and it'll make a series of files that can be burned to a disc, and you'd need to use a few for a file that is 3gb in size....then you copy all the files off the discs onto the other pc and then you can open and copy it
3: Use an ethernet crossover cable to connect 2 pc's together and simply copy the file over.

Hi, when you use winrar or winzip both have options to break a file into pieces like you can choose.
Since you said you have a 3GB file, use winrar to break the 3GB file into 650mb each so you have 5 files total.
Then you can just copy 1 file for each CD,
Or if you have fast internet you can use www.xdrive.com which is free and it uploads at around 300KB/sec it would take several hours to upload 3GB and then once it uploads you can use the other computers to download the file if you want to save from using 5 CDs.

On the web, there are many places where you can store a file for free, like an ftp site.
Upload the file there, and then copy it to the other computers. This way you don't have to split the file.

remove the hardisk where the file is located then transfer the hard disk to your computer then make it the slave so that it will not affect your system then the drive you've been installed to your computer will become drive d:
then search the file you will copy on the drive d: then you can copy now it to your computer
