Looks like the T1842 has an INTEGRATED video chipset. It's a lower end way of doing business style graphics. That said, it DOES have PCI slots which you can use for an add-on video card. The unit is circa 2002, and comes with a celeron 1.8Ghz and only 128M of SDRAM. I would suggest getting MORE RAM before you get a new video card. If you are trying to do fast gaming applications, then the CPU will also be a bottleneck.

Bottom line: Add some memory and use for a business/email desktop. Focus on a newer machine for gaming if that is your goal.

Radeon 8500 has an AGP 4x interface. There is no AGP interface on a t1842. The t1842 has onboard video, Intel® Extreme Graphics 3D (845GL shared) and 3 PCI slots (2 available).

NVIDIA GeForce 3 has AGP x2/x4 interface. There is no AGP interface on a t1842.

Yes you can install a ATI graphics card, If you have a onboard graphics then you will need to disable in the bios, and then install your new card... make sure you set the bios up right.. get some one that knows how to do it set it up for you, There are two types of cards PCI and AGP and which exer one you put in needs to be setup in the Bios for it to work right

As your desktop does not support AGP I would suggest to get a PCI Video card (careful you need a PCI Card and NOT a PCI Express x16). There are several available in the price range from $30-150 US.
