In a laptop (and most desktops these days), the 'sound card' is a chip that is soldered onto the system board (motherboard). You cannot really access it. If you really asking how to get sound out to a set of speakers, find the green 1/8" round connector located somewhere on the external case of the PC and plug the speakers into there.

You need to find the software probably? Right click on megaphone on task bar, open volume control. Make sure all mutes are clicked off and all volumes turned at least half way up. Be sure you look under every little tab for settings that would affect your sound.

The sound card is located directly behind wherever you plug in your headphone or microphone. It might also be integrated into the motherboard.
