Should be plug and play, but if not, and you're on a router, you'll want to make sure, first of all that it's hooked up.
Well...let me ask a few questions of you first.
Is it wireless broadband or ethernet?
Router or directly to the modem?
Mac or PC?
Have you hooked up the ethernet cords or do you need help with that too?

If it has built in wireless get a wireless router. If you're on ADSL make it a router/modem. If it doesn't have built in wireless you can get a kit and plug a card in the side of your laptop or a dongle in the USB 2 port. I would take it in a maplin store and ask them for advice from one of their technical guys. Configuring a wireless router isn't easy though. I have just had one with a 10 year warranty pack up and spent an extra £20 on another - then £40 on a technician to do the "easy" set up - took 90 minutes. I'm still waiting on the manufacturers to tell me why I keep losing my connection. I have to keep unplugging it and plugging it back in to get a connection. Big multi-nationals sell you stuff at inflated prices and then technical support is a guy in India - who tells you what you already know. The phone number costs you a fortune to phone them and then you have Windows! Under the sale of goods Act products are supposed to be fit for their purpose. XP wasn't fir for it's surpose after 100 hotfixes and service pack two installed. Just as they are getting it right they expect us to buy Vista - which is another Beta - not ready - but they will sell it at an inflated price anyway! If you buy a new computer - you get stuck with it because Microsoft run the cartel. It's Christmas day and I'm annoyed with Microsoft, Netgear and Yahoo - for sending me another insulting email from a bot in reply to one I sent in November. So Yahoo switch the bots off for Christmas - we English think they SUCK! Now the bloody spell checker has packed up - typical...

Depends if you are on a router. If you are on a router you plug in the cord from the router into your computer. If your wireless router is working then go to connect to and search for your ssid in the network list.
