Got a new laptop for Christmas. Want to transfer pictures and mp3s from old computer. I have a wireless router with 4 ports. Is putting everything on a shared folder and accessing that folder through the network the best way to transfer files? I would connect to the network with ethernet cables, not wirelessly. Thanks!

Does anybody know of a device that you can plug into an ordinary ethernet cable so that the product the ethernet cable is connected to on the other end can get internet access?
Like I just bought a Playstation 3 and the wireless doesn't seem to be working. I can however connect to the internet with a cable. The cable is unconveniently long though. So I am looking for a device that I can just plug into the ethernet cable so my ps3 will get internet access through a wire which is wireless.
Sorry that my description isn't the best but it's hard to describe.

Thanks!

all i want to do is take the ethernet cable that is currently plugged into my desktop and plug it into my laptop to get on the web. the modem is working fine because there is no problem getting on the web with the desktop. but, when i plug the eth. cable into the laptop, i can't get on the web. i'm showing two enabled available connections on the laptop, but when i try to connect, they both say that i have limited or no connectivity. i've gone through "internet properties" too and clicked on the "connections" tab and made sure that "never dial a connection" is selected as an option. i'm not sure what to do at this point. thanks

I have a nintendo DS which only accepts connection speeds of 2mbps.

I have a: Actiontec - M1424WRverizonFIOS router. My connection is typically 48 mbps, which is much too fast for my DS to connect to. I know how to set the speed to 2mbps for the whole router, but I'd have to change it back all the time when I want to use my computer(s). Is there a way to manually set a specific IP address to get only a 2mbps connection?

I have three computers in my house. two are connected right to the router and one is upstairs and is wireless. The wireless always worked fine, and would only occasionally cut out. I moved the computer into a different room, and now it doesn't work. Everything is set up fine, I think the problem is that they are too far away, the wireless card and the router. Is there something I can do, or buy to strengthen the signal? one of my friends said I can buy an antenna but he doesn't know what kind.

I have my 360 hooked up through my linksys router, which is hooked to the modem which is hooked to the wall. my pc is also hooked up through the router. everytime I test network connections on my 360 it says that it fails with the MTU. I checked, and i found out that my MTU is at 1500. What's the problem, I know it's supposed to be above 1364, so why does it not work when it is set at 1500?

We just finished setting up our new HP windows Vista computer. Everything appears to be working fine, except that it will not connect wirelessly to our home network.

The modem is connected to another computer in another room, but we've always had an older computer in the location of the new computer that connected to the internet just fine.

Our ISP is Quest through MSN, but the new computer will only let us select DAIL UP msn. It's pretty dang frustrating.

Any help? I will be eternally grateful.

The router is working on my desktop without a problem, but the laptop is no longer connecting. It worked fine for almost 2 years, but now it's giving me all kinds of IP address problems.
Specifically it says "Limited or no connectivity" and when I click on that it tells me "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed
Renewing your IP address." All help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I've already been on the phone with tech support who told me the Dell utility is the problem, but I don't HAVE a Dell utility.

My sister gave me her laptop. I used DSL service with my desktop. Since I moved, I haven't transferred our service. Do I need to have an internet provider or can I purchase some sort of card? And no, my neighbors have secured networks so I can't "share" service with them. What ever will I do?

I have the usb720 air card from verizon for my laptop and I keep getting disconnected from the internet every five minutes. This just started happening. is this because I'm picking up wireless signals and that's overriding my air card?
