ethernet cable from my laptop into the modem and tried to access my wireless base station but it wont allow me in although it works online otherwise.

ok thanks for the reponses so far. i have tried the reset buton the backwith no sucess. I am online at the moment with the ethernet when i try and enter the ip for base station (192.168.1.2) I get 'cannot display the webpage' message even though i can access any other site. It is a Philips SNB6500 ... thanks

To log onto your wireless access point you need to enter the LAN IP address of the device in your web browser, then when prompted you need to enter the user name and password assigned to the device. Once this is properly entered you can then navigate your way throughout the various config screens.

If you have lost the user name and password, check the owner's manual and see how it can be reset to factory default setting and start over.

Your initial problem appears to be logging into the device and user name / password info is needed.

Of course you must log onto the LAN IP address of the device in your web browser also.

There is usually reset whole in the bottom or back of the router use a paper clip to probe the whole and it will trigger a reset.

theres a pin head reset button on the router

Please post the make and model of your modem and wireless router. Chances are there is a reset button, but it may be that you don't need to reset the whole thing.

Is your modem set to bridge PPPoE?
