Well, I have a wired router, connecting the computer its feeding off of, but see that computer is down. I would like to hook a wireless router up to the wired router, so I can get internet access for my macbook. Its just I dont have any idea on how to hook up the wireless router since the desktop is broken.
Thanks in advance

Wait. How does the desktop fit in to the equation?.

There are a few things you will need to get your macbook connected, but none of them involve having a desktop.

Wall. --> Modem from your ISP --> your wired router (this might be a single unit with the modem.) --> Wireless router configured to act as an access point. -- > macbook and PC (working or not)

So you need to have signal from you isp. That's your modem. You need a traffic cop. This is your router. If it is separate from your modem, you can just eliminate it from the system and replace it with your wireless router.

You will configure your wireless router by putting your macbook right up next to the thing and connecting to the strongest wireless signal you can find. It will most likely have the brand name of your router in the SSID name. Connect to that signal, and open up Safari of the Fox. Enter the router's default IP address (192.168.x.x) and you will be at the web interface. You can configure your router from here.

You do not need the PC to be working to connect your macbook to the system.

Good luck!
