I recently bought a Spectra wi-fi card, but my dad doesn't know/approve. He runs a Windows XP with a basic linksys router. What are th possible ways that he could know I'm online/what I'm doing? Obviously excluding any $200+ software. I don't even want him to see that this IP address is on the network. Thanks!

Here's my predicament:

I have a Linksys wireless router model WRT54G.

My laptop will connect wirelessly to the router and I can use the internet. However, when I try to connect with another computer at the same time, the new computer will disconnect the laptop from the internet, and I can use the internet with the new computer.

So, comp A connects. Then B connects and disconnects A. When I try to connect A again, B will disconnect.

This is a problem if my wife wants to use the laptop while I'm playing an online game with my PS3 wirelessly.

I would like to be able to connect wirelessly with two or more computers to the router.

I know it's possible. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a Gateway ML3109 laptop. It has an Intel Celeron M Processor (1.6GHz), upgraded RAM (1GB), a 80 GB hard drive, and Windows Vista installed. I am also currently a Nextel/Sprint customer for my cell service. I am looking at a PX-500 (Pantech Wireless) data card for my internet access. Will this work? Will this machine support this card? Is the card fast enough? What problems should I be aware of? Any advise would really be helpful.

Would the "AMD Athlon 64 X2" dual core processor be faster at file serving than a P4 2.8GHZ CPU? I'm just not sure when the 2nd processor would "kick in" with regard to file sharing/serving.

Does the server software affect speed as well, or does the software depend on the CPU speed?

I'll be using this server software: Abyss Web Server X1 (free version - see http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/ ).

Thanks for any knowledgeable answers! :)

I'm living in a building and the internet provided in it is through a LAN network. In other words, I connect from the wall jack to my laptop via a network cable.
So, I recently bought a Sitecom wireless broadband network router, and connected the WAN port to the wall-jack, but my laptop does not detect the router? :(
I setup and configured whatever's required, but still no use :(
- I posted the above question and I got the below answer:
Since that LAN network is shared with the rest of the building, I would not expect your router to work on it. Simply put, there's already a router between the building's jacks and the Internet, and I don't think you can stack routers like this.

-And I think his answer is convincing.
Now, what can I do to create a wireless network in my apartment?

I've been getting some very bad latency as of late, and I suspect that perhaps someone has hacked my wireless router. Is there anyway of checking who is using the router, wireless, wired, or otherwise?

If I do find that someone is using my wireless network, is there anyway to ban people from using it, or is the only way to stop them by changing my router's password?

The hotspot for the wireless network that I am connecting to is located in the living room. I'm guessing it's my neighbor who lives in the unit below that has the wireless. I'm connecting from my room, but I get a weak signal. Also I can't really move my desktop to the living room to make the connection better. My wireless card is a D-link airplus g dwl g510, which has a detachable antenna. I was thinking of moving the the antenna and running some cables to my wireless card. Will this work, and what kind of cables and adapters do I need? The connectors seems to be smaller than the regular cable TV cables.

I don't have my own internet, because I am only home for a 2 weeks for school break.
