I was trying to hook up to my home network that uses the workgroup name MSHOME but the new laptop has a workgroup name WORKGROUP and I can't figure out how to change it so it is in the same workgroup as all my Win XP computers.

i assume the new laptop Vista?

Open the Control Panel, open System, and then click Advanced System Settings in the left column.
Click the Computer Name tab in the System Properties window and then click Change.

If XP

Go to Start > My Computer > Right click > Properties > Open Computer Name tab - look for the Change button and click - you should now be able to change your WorkGroup.

All you can do is got to
MY COMPUTER ->RT CLICK PROPERTIES->
GO TO COMPUTER NAME TAB AT THE TOP
At the BOTTOM YOU WILL SEE
TO RENAME THIS COMPUTER
OR TO JOIN TO A DOMAIN CLICK CHANGE
CLICK ON CHANGE
AND You can change the workgroup as in which you have to join!!!
