I am trying to get on a network that has a stronger singal but no luck. my computer only allows me 2 conect 2 an uncersure network which signal is very low and i lose it within 5mins or less. any ideas how i can connect to a stronger signal or secure network with out paying for a chip or router which i have tried and it lost half my data and crashed my computer.

well today i felt like building an old computer now i have my win 98 comp running but i have no idea how to get it on the internet im not good with network stuff. i have roadrunner do i need an install disk or something. i have another comp, my win Xp comp is running on roadrunner and i was wondering what i need to do to get my 98 on the internet. I'm using the internet through a router, so probably due to NAT or whatever, online website port scanning doesn't seems to work on my PC.

Is there any software to scan certain port on my own system to check if it's open or close?

I have 3 computers that are connected on a small office network. I have eBay Turbo Lister on one of the computers but would like to have it connected on the network so that everyone can use it and it will contain all the listings that everyone has added to it. I have another computer upstaires with internet...but i wanaa hook up the DI to my downstaires comp Because my 360 is downstaires... Is there a way to hook it up with a comp with no internet or is there a way to still play live without instaliing it... but most importantly tryin to install to my comp with out no connection.. or the cable( can i get the cable cause i do pay for internet)

I wanted to connect my Macbook to the internet via an ethernet cable, so I disconnected my desktop's ethernet cable from my Motorola SB5101 Cable Modem, then plugged in my laptop. I ran the network diagnostics program on my Macbook went through several steps, then it told me to restart my modem, which I am unaware of how to do.

Does anyone know how to restart this cable modem, or better yet, some help for a new laptop owner who would like to connect to the internet using a wired connection?

I just bought a new modem box "motorola" and everyday it disconnects me and it doesnt get back on till about 6 hours or so. I unplug my stuff and wait for 5 minutes and plug it back in but still nothing anyone know how to fix my problem??

The main network is using a router wired through the building,

in one room I connected my DI-624 wireless router to the wall - and two computers wired to the router, one wireless to the router. This worked fine for internet, but I couldn't access the main network (just computers attached to the DI-624 network).

So I disabled DHCP (turning the router into a switch I guess). Works great, all computers (even wireless - after some tweaking) connect to both the internet and main network.

BUT, now I cannot get to the DI-624 CONFIGURATION. I have tried all sorts of IP addresses, looked at the default gateway (tried that address), just can't get back to it?

I'm in not stressing too much because it works, but I can't change any settings anymore?

I have a Actiontec router w/ verizon fios. I want to set up the wifi connections with it. I also have a netgear wg111 set up with my other desktop computer. if that helps.... I search for my acess point and i see it, enter my password, and then then connnection test fails. I get the error code 52030 or something like that... I really wanna set it up. PLease help me!!!!

I have a sprint wireless card for internet access and want to connect the slingbox so that i can leave the laptop at home and access slingbox elsewhere via the internet. when i try to set-up remote viewing, it doesn't allow this. I am new to wireless routers and keep running into a problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi,
Got the Netgear Router from Sky, set it up using the cd. All worked fine until a minute later when the internet cut off but the internet light on the router stayed solid green. Now if i want to get on to the internet, but only for a minute, i have to turn it off for about an hour and then turn it back on, except the same thing happens :S. Please helpp me!! The router is a netgear DG834GT. Another weird thing today was that when i got home the power light on the router was not on, just the number 1 was lit (my computer port).

So i am trying to make a network, the modem is a speedstream 5100, and network link is a Netgear 8 port. when i link the two computer together one gets internet and the other gets a windows error, and its IP is all 0's. i tired making a network from the network places, set up a small home or office network. that didnt work. Can anyone help me so that both computers are connected? and i did call the companies, both didnt help at all and want money. they can go f*#$ themselves.

the two computers i have are wired to the router. i dont have problems with file and printer sharing between this two. they both run in windows xp while my wireless laptop is vista. if my laptop can connect to the internet using the same router, why can't i see the 2 computers from my laptop and i don't see my laptop from any of the two wired computers? all three are in the same workgroup (i made sure that they are).

hi,i have a modem conneted to my phone jack and its connected to my laptop via usb.the modem has no other outputs.i wanted to get internet for my xbox 360.how does a wireless adapter work?i know i have to get one for the 360,but,for my laptop,does it just connct to the laptop and give out wireless internet so i can connect to my 360?and,if i does,how do i "protect" the connection so nobody else can "steal" it?thank you very much all.any answer will be aprecciated

My problem is i want to share internet connect between desktop (using XP)and laptop(using XP). In my desktop i have ethernet card . i'm using BSNL broadband connection. how to share internet connection between laptop and desktop.i use almost all method(like ICS).i use cross over cable to connect my desktop and laptop. I have a DSL modem that can only connect to my pc via USB. However, I have a wireless router from Netgear that I want to use to go wireless. It only has ethernet ports so can I share my internet connection from my pc wirelessly by connecting the router to my pc's ethernet slot?

i.e. modem to pc (via usb), pc to wireless router (via ethernet)
