Hi, no sorry, this would be a very difficult setup to make a peer to peer network between your xbox and your laptop, and since it is obvious you have no experience in wireless networking I will not encourage you to do this.

THe easiest way to get this done, and this way will also make it so you can roam your home with your laptop also, is to:
1) Purchase a new DSL Modem that uses ethernet and a wireless router
or
2) Purchase a wireless modem/Router combo unit, which makes it easier for you to setup.

Most people dont know that you do not need to use the equipment provided by your ISP.

You can get cheap (Price not quality) units on Ebay or if the price does not really concern you a modem and router new at a store will cost about $150.00 american

I will suggest something like this:

Then for the xbox you will need a gaming bridge:

And if your laptop does not have a wireless adapter already you would need a wireless adapter like:

the two paintings properly. whether if a topic occurs, a PCI card would be less demanding to troubleshoot. at last USB will replace the PCI buss thoroughly yet this remains some years off and has someone-friendly the right thank you to pass to earlier the bugs are out.
