Hi!

The firmware on your DSL Modem will have updates for some reason. The manufacturer will release an update when they see something that needs some patching. It might be a connetivity issue or some vulnerablities with the current firmware.

When you apply the update, it will fix/patch these problems and make your Modem more stable. Just make sure that when you update the firmware you are updating to the latest one.

One common advice when updating/upgrading the firmware is when you don't experience any incompatibilities and there is nothing wrong with your hardware you might want to think it over. If nothing is wrong why upgrade right?

I hope this helps.
Cheers!
