the two computers i have are wired to the router. i dont have problems with file and printer sharing between this two. they both run in windows xp while my wireless laptop is vista. if my laptop can connect to the internet using the same router, why can't i see the 2 computers from my laptop and i don't see my laptop from any of the two wired computers? all three are in the same workgroup (i made sure that they are).

thanks everyone for the help!

One of the most common reasons for this is that the FIREWALL is not set to allow the network!

Failing that try pinging the other machines by IP and then if they respond try to connect to them by IP.. Vista seems to sometimes just not find them until you force it. You can also search by NAME (they do all have different computer names?)

But check all the firewalls first (even on the router if it has one)
Good Luck.

If this Netgear wifi router works with one pc under pressure out and one pc instant, then the main in all probability concern with the Vista pc would desire to be that it fairly is purely too some distance from the router. The radio sign would desire to be weakened through partitions, flooring etc. carry it up next to the router and verify out back. If this is the priority then you would ought to re-evaluate the place the router and computers would properly be set.

Check how the IP address setup is on all the machines, and make sure that the IP address are all matching. Ie they have the same start part and have a net mask that would cover the first part on all of them, and that the net mask multiplied by all the IP address on all the machines will leave you with the same numbers.

For example, 192.168.1.5 mask 255.255.255.0 with another machine 192.168.1.10 mask 255.255.255.0 is fine. But 10.5.10.1 mask 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.10.1 mask 255.255.255.0 will never see each other or be able to connect without a NAT translation layer in between the two.

Hope this helps, remember computer networking is pretty complicated.
