I'm 19, have a year and a piece of experience, I have an Ortronics certificate saying I'm qualified to pull and terminate fiber optic cable. I have extensive experience pulling and terminating cat5 and 6. 4 pair, 25 pair, etc... The company I'm working for is not union, I live in florida and the company pays health insurance for me. I make $10 and hour. Is that reasonable, if not what would be?

If it is a well established company with steady work and having over 15 employees, I would not work less than $15 per hour, and if it is crawl spaces $20. It is not nice to work in ceilings in the heat of the day. I have done it and it cost then dearly.

For a non union company that pays medical in florida and 1 year experience your pay rate should be around 13 to 15 dollars an hour.

In California you would be making 15 to 20 an hour.

In the mid west you would be making just about what you are now.

$10 an hour? Cleaners earn more than that here in the UK!

You're being exploited, son. Time to look in the job papers.
